About Us

Chilume Social Service Society

Uplifting marginalized women, skill training for the unskilled and unemployed youth and women, the quality education for all children / students especially in govt. Schools and Anganawadi centers.

Chilume focused on quality and universal education opportunities for all. Education is the powerful tool to bring visible and long lasting transformation in the lives of the disadvantaged and neglected families in our society. Hence, we are working in govt. Schools and Anganawadi centers where most of the underprivileged students and children are enrolled to ensure quality and basic education through our various projects and programme implementation. Chilume works in 18 govt. Anganawadi centers and 9 govt. Schools covering more than 4000 students/children through quality education and allied support. Nelamangala, Kanakapura, Anekal, taluks of Karnataka state. The majority of marginalized families struggle to provide basic education to their children especially post SSLC. Students from rural and urban slum areas always struggle to complete their college and to leverage their education for a promising career. The Pre University (Class XII) results of Karnataka state over the years indicate that only 45-55% of enrolled students are successful each year resulting in almost half of the enrolled students remaining college dropouts. Chilume has been striving to provide education, additional teachers, and soft skill opportunities for the underprivileged students. Chilume at the same time has been working towards Women empowerment through various livelihood activities in urban and rural communities. We provide job oriented livelihood and skill training in basic garments, Aari works, and preparation of various household chemicals such as detergent soap, washing powder, sanitary liquids etc. We link all these trainings with MSME certification by Khadi Village Industries Commission. Through tree plantation drive, promotion of kitchen gardens, and rural plantation programmes we are ensuring sustainable environment and well oriented young generation among farming communities, students in Anganawadi centers, schools and colleges.

BASIC INFRASTRUCTURE OF OF GOVT. SCHOOLS AND ANGANWADI CENTERS

A book is judged by its cover so also a school is also judged by its infrastructure, they are mirror for students. Unfortunately, the present govt. Schools and Anganawadi centers are very poor and lack basic necessaries such as toilets, drinking water units, painting, science, labs, roofing, flooring, etc. There are 49,679 government schools in Karnataka, out of which 21,045 are primary schools (1-5), 22,086 upper-primary schools (1-8), 5,051 secondary schools (1-10) and 1,497 higher secondary (1-12). There are 1,483 government schools in Bangalore. These schools are managed by the state education department and local bodies like the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and Panchayats. Additionally, Bangalore Rural has 1,203 government schools, including 1,139 elementary schools We at Chilume have been trying to upgrade or improve the basic infrastructure facilities in govt.
